How exactly does SPENDING $1.2 TRILLION for health care SAVE Americans money?

Considering that TAXES will pay for it and taxes are taken out of ALL American’s pockets.

Lib argument #1: Oh yeah tax the "rich"
Tax the rich and they will pass it on to YOU

Lib argument #2: No! Tax the evil corporations
Tax the corporations and they will pass it on to YOU

Lib argument #3: But it’s "FREE"
The average family of 4 will pay $15000 a year MINIMUM for coverage
Charlie Rangel’s Report from House and Ways Committee on Heatlh care:

MINIMUM is the word. All of the current medicare and VA spendng is at that level for a single individual for 2009, not a family.References :

Not exactly for it. But, it could be considered an investment. Keeping Americans healthier, would, in the end run, cost the gov less.References :

We currently pay a little over $17,000 annually for our BCBS family plan. With this, we have a $2000 deductible. We have no preexisting conditions and no health problems. There have been no major operations or illnesses, we have NEVER met our deductible, yet premiums continue to rise.

I am in favor of any health care reform plan that will create competition, forcing insurance companies to focus on something other than profit.

The problem I have with the Republicans right now is that they have had chance after chance to reform health care. Each time they gained control of congress however, the issue was on a back burner. Now, all of the sudden, they want to negotiate? I say it’s too little, too late!

This is just another shady ploy to block reform entirely, which is exactly what they have done for decades.References :

Billions and Billions of dollars are lost every year due to unhealthy conditions of those who can not afford even the most basic medical care and checkups. People go to work with illnesses that should keep them home and away from other people resulting in the spread of illness to others. People with ailments that make them dangerous to operate equipment on the job or on the road are unaware of it because they can not afford to see a doctor thus someone else is injured or dies. Employers loose productivity due to the spread of illnesses and injuries in the workplace. Long term illness cuts family incomes and loss of money for education and training. Building a health care program to better serve the citizens of our great country is essential. Setting around thinking about it and doing nothing (as we have for the past eight years) is costing us far too much! Republican Governor (past) Bob List in a GOP sponsored meeting said the American people already have health care insurance because they can go to any hospital emergency room and be treated regardless of their insurance status. Does the GOP think that is a free service? We all pay for it; the person who does not have the insurance pays the least – the rest of us pay additional medical costs to cover the hospital and doctors costs and we all pay added taxes for indigent care. Sure we can go on as we are complaining about the exploding costs of health care and complain that too many people can not afford insurance or we can pay the cost now and fix the problem. Do nothing and we will see continual increasing insurance and health care costs. Anyone have any idea what insurance and health care cost would be today had the health care bill passed ten years ago before insurance rates and pharmaceuticals soared?.References :

At the moment, the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [6]. Which means that reform will save money if, as it has in other nations where these reforms have been tried, it works.

I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it?
Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2].
Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this [3].
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4].
FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [5].
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [6].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage.
If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.References : [1]

    1) 1.2 trillion dollars over 10 years is about one dollar a day for each American.
    2) a public option is designed to introduce competition in the health insurance sector which is dominated by a handful of greedy private companies, and to force these companies to cut costs and profits.
    3) the cost of health care is OUTRAGEOUS in the US, around 17%of the GDP, vs.8-10% in other rich countries, which all have universal health care.
    4) private health insurance companies have launched an all-out offensive against Obamacare. Read what Wendell Potter, a former PR employee at Cigna, has to say about the insurance lobby.
    5) how many people who post anti-Obamacare answers really work for these greedy private insurance companies?References :
