Serious question, folks.
I know what both candidates INTEND to do, but I’m still short on the details of HOW.
For instance, a few months back, McCain said he would strengthen the dollar. That’s not a plan, that’s not even actionable.
So my question is, what specifically will Obama do to save money. It’s not enough to say that he wants to do so, there has to be a plan in there somewhere. Please cite the mechanisms.
Denny – I appreciate your answer. Administrative costs can be cut, so that would help. Still, much of the IT development has been in health care administration. It is feasible to save on costs, and somehow make sure these savings go to consumers. That could be at least part of the answer.
In regard to his health care plan . . .
I mean, I’m not really sure – not being an economist. I know he wants to convert all paperwork and the like into a computerized system – which would save a lot of administrative costs.
I just know that organizations have claimed a Universal Health Care plan, if instituted properly, could actually save us 100-200 billion a year. We pay more than any other nation for our health care plan, yet we are the only industrialized nation that doesn’t cover everyone.
So, I don’t know about specifics in regards to health care.
I also know he wants to get rid of loopholes in the tax system that corporations exploit. So that they can’t set up business in the Cayman Islands to avoid taxes . . . (some 42% of businesses in America pay NO taxes because of loopholes . . . trillions of untaxed dollars.) Also, Bush has ballooned spending, so it shouldn’t be too hard to cut in some areas. Especially defense. We spend $480 billion a year on defense . . . yet we have no real threats. China spends the 2nd most in the world . . . a little over $60 billion. We have INSANE spending in this country.

This is SO far "above Obama’s pay grade," not to mention his brain power and experience that it’s not even worth talking about.
Even if McCain gets elected, he might have little to say about it anyway.
What is likely to get JAMMED down America’s throats is the SECRET plan that Teddy Kennedy has been working on from his sickbed.
He’s been consulting with everybody – well, EXCEPT for GOP Congressional leaders – to craft a plan that will be presented in the new Congress in January.
Remember that he promised in his Convention Speech that he would BE there???
THIS is WHY.
NO, it’s not likely to SAVE you one red cent.
Who cares if YOU like it.
The Democrats will decide what YOU have to live with.
YOU will pay the price.
Your taxes will INCREASE to pay for it.
YOU will fill out paperwork and stand in line.
Even if McCain wins, we are likely to have NOTHING to say about it. References :
